Service is excellent! Didn't have to wait long till my turn to get a seat. Good for solo travellers too! They speak English so international travellers can visit this place too. For the beef katsu, it's amazing! The cut is perfect, and the chewiness and texture is perfect. Comes with side dishes, rice, soup, and potato salad! There's a menu that teaches u how to eat the dish properly too. Recommended!!
It was okay, beef was good. Cooking experience and sauces were also fun. I guess I just expected more from the ratings haha. The yam was too gooey and slimy, not really to my liking.
Really recommended for beef lover, beef is tender and season well. Queue quite long but really fast,I’m waiting just 10 mins
Woke up in the middle of the night after a long day and was looking for something great to eat.Found this restaurant in google maps. Arrived there at quarter to 10 at night and there was no line! They let us in and prepped our orders immediately.Highly recommend this place. The beef katsu is soft, delicious, and flavorful. The staff is very nice. They have English instructions on how to enjoy the meal.5 stars âï¸ âï¸ âï¸ âï¸ âï¸
Beef, of good quality. Interesting way to have the beef "fried" by own. You can control your own pace to enjoy the meal.
Very nice restaurant here in Asakusa! I love the atmosphere, the friendly staff, the quick wait time (within 5min to enter) due to its popularity and the quick service. I would definitely come back here again when I have the chance! :)
We decided to try this place out after seeing that people kept lining up every day. The wait wasn’t that long during a weekday (around 15 minutes). The lady took our order when we were lining up and when it was our turn to be seated, our food was ready! It is super worth it. The meat is so tender and goes well with all the difference sauces. You have a stone grill that allows you to cook your meat however you want. Will definitely return!
Yummy Beef!! Great food!! â¤ï¸ And the stone grill is really unique! Allows you to cook the beef to the done-ness level you prefer! ðŸ‘
A long wait but worth it! Gyuukatsu is not just the food but an experience. The beef tastes good and done according to your liking. Interesting yam and rice combination. I will come back again.
Went there at 9.30 PM with my wife and a 15 months old baby.. Fortunately, there weren't any queue and the restaurant was empty. The gyukatsu was so tender and juicy even if you cook it well done on the hot stone. The chef is very nice to customer.Definitely a must visit restaurant for tourists..
Probably one of the best place where I had food in Tokyo. We arrived at 18 and we had to wait for 30 minutes but was definitely worth! You get a full meal for as little as 1500Â¥ plus the food is definitely amazing!
Amazing!! Definately will recommend my friends to come!! The beef is very soft and the food is nice. The service is great too, everyone is nice here?🎅ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
Got there on Monday 9.30pm and was served around 10.30pmI've been travelling in Japan for 20 days and this was my favourite restaurant. Too bad it was on my last night. I'll definitely come back when I have the chance to.The meat was almost as good as a high caliber Wagyu. The experience was well worth the wait.
thank you for the most wonderful meal i have had in such a long long time. the entire experience was worth the hour wait in line. the meat was so tender and buttery. it literally melted in my mouth. i never had gyuukatsu cuisine before and this was beyond words. i will recommend this restaurant to all my friends. they, too, need to experience this for themselves
I honestly love this place! Although there are long lines to wait to eat, I believe it is worth it. As long as you show up early (around 6:30-7:00pm), the wait should be 30 minutes to an hour at the very most. The food is extremely good, and is crunchy and tasty as well. I wholeheartedly recommend this restraunt!!!
Must try if you're in Tokyo. We waited about 20 minutes with friendly service all around. The food was extremely delicious just like everyone said.
Disappointed.. Based on all those great reviews I was looking forward to this meal a lot! Fortunately no queue at all. The meat had absolutely zero beef taste! I tried it plain, with salt, with soysauce and wasabi it still didn’t bring out any beef flavour. It was tender, I give them that, but that’s because it has enormous high fat content, which I don’t mind. It was a fun experience to grill your meat to your liking but for me not worth the ¥1400 for a piece of tender meat with no flavour at all.
Fantastic food with very friendly staff! I really understand why this place had a queue outside! :) Worth the wait!
Quite a long queuing time but it was well worth the wait. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. Definitely a must try for anyone visiting the Asakusa area.
Food were really amazing. Staff was nice and friendly. Definitely will come back again.
The best fried steak! You can choose to eat the fried steak directly or grill a little bit more. The fatty part is so tender and melted in my month. I will definitely visit again!
Amazing place. We lined up at 10pm (30 min before closing) and there was a decent line outside already yet they still let us sit in well past the time of closing. Very nice staff and amazing food! I have never had such good meat in my life. Highly recommend!!!!
Food was good but not particularly great. I'm glad I tried it but I wouldn't queue to eat here again. Beef was very chewy; too chewy for my taste unfortunately (I wondered if I was eating meat or just fat?). But for those of you who prefer chewy meat, then this place is perfect for you.
The gyukatsu is very delicious. The restaurant atmosphere is also very nice. Usually it's quite difficult to sit together for a group of 7 people but they managed to fit us all in.
One star off for the wait. It was annoying that the place only allowed new customers in only when everyone was done. I waited over an hour in the rain and made sure to eat quickly for the next people. But the food was great, I know that the beef was definitely high quality.
Long line up so it must be popular. True is the 45 minutes wait worth it. Really delicious and juicy steak on hot stone you can control the tenderness.
Went there 20mins before the opening time and there was already a queue. Loved the food and the experience. The beef was fried, really crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Although it's already friend, it was still quite raw so we could cook it on our own stone stove to our liking. They also had different sauces which adds more flavour to the already tasty beef. There was also some sort of radish paste to be poured over the rice.Highly recommend this place if you're around the area.
Second time having Gyuukatsu and as my final meal in Japan 😊 Delicious - meat was tender and loved the self sizzling experience ðŸ˜ðŸ˜† Located on the opposite street from the Sensoji 😇
The gyukatsu is 100% worth the wait. Need to leave at least 1-2 hours before your meal though as the wait could be long. The meat is SO tender and flavorful. Nice ambience in the restaurant too.
1st time with gyu katsu, and the staff was as good as the food (great). I really enjoyed my set dinner
The restaurant is quite small with a total seating capacity of 11 persons; however, this should in no way be taken as a complaint, as the quality of the experience and of the food, is simply unique and memorable. From the moment that the guide and the plated food is presented, a foreshadowing of sorts comes into play. This is quote smart and creative, and I highly commend the thought process that has gone into the ensuring of a satisfying customer experience. Now talking about the beef alone, each way you cook it, whether just for a light searing, or if you prefer to have a golden brown colour, the tastes changes as well. This, together with the sauces provided gives any person an array of choices to find their favourite combination.
There may be a little queue but it is worth it. You make your order before entering so you can start to eat as soon as ur sit. Really. The food is super good. Worth the wait.
Nice taste. Recommend big portion. Will come next time again for sure.
Tried gyukatsu for the first time and it’s the best meal of our Tokyo trip so far! Such tender beef! Heads up on the queue though.
Honestly deserved the rating and hour wait. It was delicious. Only serves one item and it was amazing. This is not a place to chill and eat though. The beef was so tender, very had anything like it. A bit pricey again, but absolutely amazing beef and side dishes.Disclaimer: a lot of the reviews here and written by offering a free drink. This is not one of them, but I thought I should give it a 5 star.
Good dish. Meat is tasty, some sauce, some vegetables. What more do you need?
We went on Friday around 4 pm. There was a line but it went by pretty fast. We got seated around 4:30 and the meal was already prepared for us to eat. The meat was delicious and very tender. Worth checking out if you’re in Asakusa!
Food was delicious, service was fast. The meat you get has a good quality. You can choose only one menu, but it is more than enough and totally worth it. You cook the meat to your liking and can add different sauces or just salt! It is very tasty and definitely a secret tip!
Even though we have to wait for one hour but this place's recommended menu is extremely good! It very worth waiting and if I have a chance to come again, I definitely will come! 💘💘💘
Did wait very long. However the experience is good, customer service is exceptional and the food is very well done! Overall a great experience
The wait is way too long. It takes an entire hour just to move 10 persons. It's delicious but not special enough to justify the wait. Be prepared to wash your coats again as the whole restaurant is filled with cooking smoke. Also they give a free soft drink for writing google review, which explains the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Disclaimer: I didn't ask for my free drink.
Fantastic fried beef cutlet, breaded on the outside, rare on the inside. You can pan sear the meat to your liking as they’ve cut the steak into small strips. I recommend to sear both side of the meat until it’s not red, it’ll be around medium rare on the inside. Most delicious ever! But due to the touristy location, wait time would be a bit long.
AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!! Walking through Tokyo on our 2nd night, exploring the options for dinner and we stumbled upon this place. Not knowing what to expect we waited in line for about 30 minutes. We were greeted by friendly staff, then ushered to the bottom floor where we were given our plates and instructed on the process (intentionally being vague, you have to experience this for yourself). The meal was excellent and more than I could have asked for. I cannot recommend this place enough. We WILL be back!
Located right across from Kaminarimon, this place always seems to have a line. There are two areas, both with around 10-11 seats. There are counter seats and table seats. Do get here early as the line grows fast. We went past at 10:20 and there was no queue. By the time we came back at 10:40, there was a line of 20+.Definitely worth trying, service is great too.
The restaurant is near train station, it is very convenience. And the food is very delicious. I Recommend all of you to eat.
Very good. enjoyed it very much. The meat is tender and tasty. Full disclosure: yes, you can get free drink for writing this comment (including beer). I don't feel used. Just a nice bonus to a good experience. They didn't even check the comment.
This venue is always packed but it is well worth the trip and wait. I've tried other fried steak but Gyuukatsu makes them perfectly tender. Price is very reasonable and they serve set orders with side dishes to neutralize the deep fried layer consumed. Service was speedy and excellent cleaniness. They have English menus so everything was easy to navigate. Disclosure: got a free soft drink for writing a review
we got lucky and didn’t have to wait long (came at around 5pm and got in around 5:10). delicious, every part of the set had great integrity / faith in its simplicity and yumminess. well worth the visit.
Usually I’d write a few words and post a couple of pictures of a decent meal. This however, was no ordinary meal. The restaurant is cozy with an authentic Japanese themed layout and the staff weren’t hindered by the language barrier. But I honestly wouldn’t mind eating besides a dumpster while my year 4 maths teacher screams at me for the duration of the meal, if it means I can enjoy this place one more time. It’s that good. If you ever find yourself in Tokyo, do yourself a favour and head over.
